Located in the vibrant city centre, our indoor shooting range offers a variety of firearms and fun shooting packages to make the most of your experience.

The cost of ammunition in South Africa is high. However, visiting a shooting range is more affordable than you think. Gun Fun’s shooting packages are available from R1950, per person. Packages include two to three different types of firearms, and approximately 40 to 50 rounds of ammunition.
Please Note:
- Packages cannot be shared.
- Packages include prescribed weapon rental, rounds, novelty target and the use of protective wear.
- Additional guns and / or rounds can be booked at the range.
- The teenage package (age 12 to 18 years old) is R995, per person.
While there are no dress requirements in place, we do suggest that you wear closed-toed shoes and avoid tank tops, as there could be hot brass (empty shells) flying into unwanted places.
No problem! Our expert staff will give you a safety briefing and tell you everything you need to know and expect when you shoot for the first time. They will be with you every step of the way.
Gun Fun has a strict minimum age policy of 16 years years old (accompanied by a parent or legal guardian).
In accordance with South Africa’s gun laws and regulations, for all visitors under the age of 21, a parent or legal guardian must be present. If accompanied by another adult (21 years and older), a permission letter and copy of the parent’s or guardian’s ID may be required.
For the safety of all participants and / or spectators, GUN FUN has a strict child policy. A minimum age restriction of 16 years old will be enforced. All participants aged 16 to 21 years old must be accompanied by an adult / legal guardian.
Please Note: Weapon and firearm limitations may apply to minors between the ages of 16 and 21 years old.
Yes. But children under the age of 12 years old will not be allowed in the range area, and children under the age of 16 will not be allowed to participate, as their safety is our utmost concern.
Gun Fun takes safety and responsible gun ownership very seriously. All firearms are licensed by the South African Police Service. Gun Fun’s indoor shooting range is licensed by NCRS as well as SASSETA, and is a proud member of Cape Town Tourism. Our marshals are experienced shooters and firearm specialists, and customer safety remains our primary concern.
No, we don’t allow pregnant women to shoot at Gun Fun.
Yes. You are welcome to take photos while in the range, as long as you are not holding a weapon or distracting anyone holding a weapon. When a range officer is available, they will help you take photos of your shooting experience.
No, alcohol is strictly prohibited. Any individual suspected of being under the influence will not be allowed to shoot.

A confirmation email will be sent for all bookings and purchases made via our website.
Direct bookings are taken and confirmed between 09h00 – 17h00, Monday to Friday; and from 09h00 – 12h00 on Saturdays. Gun Fun is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

We recommend planning at least 45 minutes to one hour for your Gun Fun experience.
The duration of your shooting session will depend on the package you select, the size of your group, as well as any other activities you choose to partake in.
Should you wish to upgrade or extend your shooting session, please enquire about purchasing extra ammunition or adding individual guns to your existing shooting package.
We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the start of your scheduled booking. This allows enough time for everyone to complete their indemnity forms and attend our comprehensive gun safety briefing.
We recommend scheduling at least 45 minutes to one hour for your package / shooting experience.
Yes, you can bring your friends and family with to spectate. However, followingGun Fun’s strict safety protocols, only one person (non-shooter) is allowed to watch or spectate in per lane, per session.
Please Note: Although no payment is required for spectators, anyone entering the range area will need to sign an indemnity form.
One target is provided per package. Additional targets may be purchased at a cost of R15.00 each.

FAQ: General Information
Gun Fun’s indoor shooting packages include a pre-selected set of weapons (firearms) and shots (ammunition rounds). However, our shooting packages may change, without notice, on a temporarily basis due to firearm maintenance requirements and unforeseen limitations in stock.
Please note: Firearm maintenance and availability of ammunition may result in temporary package amendments.

Right of admission is reserved and the use of the range is managed by range management. All guests and visitor are required to sign an indemnity form before they may use the facilities or participate in any activities. Visitors to the range agree that they are fit for the purpose of visit and will comply with safety officers. Visitors confirm they are not under the influence of any illegal substance or alcohol, comply with the general rules and are the required age.
Groups (10 pax or more): 7 days prior to activity = 50% of full cost.
No show and cancellation within 24 hours prior to activity = 100% of activity cost.
No, you do not need to be a member to use Gun Fun’s indoor shooting range.
However, strict identification and firearm licensing checks will apply for those wishing to book a private shooting bay / use their own firearms and ammunition.
Booking your shooting session is the best way to secure your preferred time and ensure one of our qualified instructors are available to guide you through your shooting experience.
However, visitors are always welcome to visit Gun Fun’s indoor shooting range and book one of our shooting packages in-person. Although we cannot guarantee an open time-slot, our staff will be happy to assist you and make the process as fun and as simple as possible.

FAQ: Firearm Licenses & Regulations
If you want to own a firearm, you are required to possess a valid firearm license. To get a firearm license, you must first undergo the necessary training at an accredited gun range and successfully complete your firearm proficiency certificate. Once you have obtained the competency certificate, you can apply for the firearm licence at your nearest police station. You need a licence for every firearm that you possess.
Generally, in South Africa, you need to be 21 years of age to apply for a firearm license and own a gun. If an applicant is under the age of 21, compelling reasons and sufficient support for your firearm license application will be required to obtain a competency certificate.
The basic requirements for gun ownership in South Africa:
- Be over the age of 21 or hold dedicated status.
- Have no criminal record (or have a criminal record free from violent crime).
- Be an South African citizen or hold a permanent residence status.
- Possess a valid firearm license.
To get a gun license in South Africa you must successfully pass the firearm licensing test and prescribed legal test to prove your knowledge of the Firearms Control Act 60/2000, as well as the prescribed training and practical test regarding the safe and efficient handling of your chosen firearm at an accredited training provider.

SAPS is obligated to process firearm licence and competency certificate applications within 90 days.
However, the duration of your firearm license application process will depend on your dedication and commitment to successfully passing the legal, proficiency and competency tests.
Only once you have successfully completed the required training and have received your competency certificate, can you submit your firearm license application forms to SAPS. SAPS will then process your firearm license application within 90 days.

Firearm license holders must apply for the renewal of their firearm license at least 90 days before the date of expiry. The DFO, located at your nearest SAPS station, will issue you with a SAPS 523(a) remittance advice and direct you to the financial office at the police station to pay the applicable fees of R70,00 for the competency certificate and R70,00 for each firearm licence you wish to renew.
